Botswana: Orapa Licenses
Botswana Diamonds applied for and was awarded in May 2012 a prospective 249 sq. km block PL170/2012. The block id part of the Orapa kimberlite cluster on the Kaapvaal craton. The data has shown areas with concentrations of diamond indicator minerals, namely garnets, ilmenites with a few spinels and chromites. The garnets fall mainly within the G9 group with minor G10 garnets. High resolution geophysics and initial drilling programme has been completed. The initial drilling was unsuccessful, partners and experts believe the diamond indicator minerals might have travelled to adjacent blocks. As a result we applied for and was awarded the adjacent ground PL167/2013 and PL166/2013, 484 sq km.
